Patient Financial Services
Mercer County Hospital's Patient Accounts Department works continuously to assure that your insurance is billed promptly and accurately with the information you provide us. The Patient Accounts Department is open Monday-Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm. If you have a question regarding your bill or would like more information about our billing department, please call 309-582-5301. The switchboard operator may also answer your questions after the department is closed.
Billing and Financial Information
The Patient Accounts Department answers all billing questions and concerns, requests for itemized bills, and account balance inquiries. Our department will be glad to assist you with any hospital or physician bills received for services rendered during your stay at MCH. Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurance carriers require that professional fees for physicians be billed separately from hospital charges for inpatient, outpatient, clinic, laboratory, radiology, and all other medical services. Thus you will receive separate Explanation of Benefits from your insurance company for hospital and physician services.
Health Insurance Information
MCH is committed to working with you, your physician, and your insurance carrier to make your life easier. MCH participates with most major insurance carriers and accepts Visa and Mastercard for payment on any balances that may remain after your insurance carrier has paid. Please check with a patient account representative at 309-582-5301 prior to your visit to ensure that MCH participates with your insurance carrier. Due to many types of insurance coverage, it is important that your insurance coverage be verified. We appreciate your cooperation in providing us with a copy of your current insurance card and information at the time of registration to make sure that your claims are billed accurately and promptly.
MCH will submit a claim to your insurance company provided that you have assigned payment for your benefits to the hospital. Please be aware that most health insurance plans do not cover the full amount of the hospital and physician bills. You will be required to pay any deductible, co-payment, or non-covered charges. Our patient account representatives will assist you with payment arrangements towards any balances that you may owe once your insurance has been filed. Financial applications are also available.
